The small island of Lastovo is a real insider secret. Still largely untouched by tourism, Lostovo has retained its original charm. The island is a dream destination for architecture lovers and nature lovers alike, and should definitely be included in a sailing holiday itinerary of Dalmatia. In the biggest city of the island you can find impressive buildings in the style of the Renaissance. Lastovo is also known for its scenic beauty. The island is considered to be the best place in Europe to admire the starry sky.
A visit to Dubrovnik is more or less a must when sailing in Croatia. The city also known as the Pearl of the Adriatic, is a historic city with captivating ancient beauty. Discover the centre of Dubrovnik surrounded by its old city wall and enjoy the unique view over white houses and orange roofs, that look on over to the deep blue sea. From Dubrovnik you can set sail to the city’s little sister city of Korcula - where It is also important to visit the island's vineyards and taste the native wine.
When sailing into Split, a visit to the island of Hvar should not be missed either. Hvar is famous for its prominent visitors and nightlife. However, the island has much more to offer. Especially in July, when the lavender fields are in bloom, and the scent of lavender and rosemary fills the air. Furthermore, you can enjoy the crystal clear water that surround the island by sailing trip.
All you need to know about your next cruise in Split aboard a sailboat.
The best time for sailing in Split is from April to October. The typical mediterranean climate promises warm and dry summers and brings long days of sunshine. The main sailing season lasts from June to the end of August.
Southern Dalmatia is still one of the lesser visited sailing areas of Croatia, where you can find sailing offers from €350 per person per one week.
If you want to fully enjoy your sailing holiday in Split in the best conditions, we recommend that you go choose a trip with a local skipper. Travelling with a skipper who has insider knowledge on the area, allows travellers to fully immerse in the pleasure and relaxation of the holiday. Where individuals on the trip wish to learn or practice their sailing skills, skippers will be there to integrate travellers into the responsibilities onboard.
The first proposed sailing route starts in Split and ends in Dubrovnik. The first miles will take you from Split to the island of Brac. Afterwards you can continue to the most prominent of all the islands in southern Dalmatia, the island of Hvar. From Hvar you can sail onto Vela Luka, Korcula, and Mljet - ending your trip in Dubrovnik. On this route you will sail once across the islands before Split and you can get a great overview of southern Dalmatia.
Another great route starts in Trogir and continues to the island of Solta. Afterwards it's onto Brac and Hvar before the trip ends in Split. This route is well suited for a long weekend, whilst still offering a special sailing experience.
Finally, you can start in the city of Trogir. There, you can set sail for Brac and Hvar. Afterwards taking time to explore one of the most beautiful islands before Split, Vis. The next day you go to the blue grotto of Bisevo, and finally via Solta, back to Trogir.
