WHO IT IS AIMED AT
Our Summer Sailing Camp (SSC) is aimed at children and teenagers aged 8 to 15.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
The general goal of SSCs is to transfer the passion for the sea and sailing while having fun in company and acquiring important lessons such as collaboration, respect for others, enthusiasm for diversity, adaptability, team building and leadership.
For the older ones, there is an additional goal: to make young sailors able to experience the sea with a small sailboat, sail and return to land independently.
During the camps you learn the theory and practice of sailing, from sail terms to knots, to the rigging of boats up to maneuvers. These are short theoretical lessons on land and lots of activity on the boat.
WHO TEACHES THE COURSES
The SSCs are managed by qualified instructors and the teaching is based on the more than twenty years of experience that the instructors have gained at the best Italian and international sailing schools.
WHICH BOATS ARE USED
We use J-Boats J/80, small sports cabin cruisers. They are particularly suitable for learning the basic technique. The furler and gennaker make them easy to carry and... A lot of fun!
WHAT IS THE TEACHING METHOD?
The days are punctuated by short theoretical lessons on land and a lot of boat activities in the beautiful waters between Salivoli, Baratti and the island of Elba.
Each group will be small, for a maximum of 18 students per week, assisted by 5 adults (3 sailing instructors and 2 people for shore support).
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
Each course lasts one week, from Monday to Friday, with overnight stays.
WHERE TO STAY
Participants are accommodated in the guesthouses provided by the Yacht Club. These are apartments and dormitories recently renovated (2021) where there are beds for young students and common areas. In all the accommodations, contiguous to each other, an adult is always present, day and night, who checks the respect of the hours of silence and the maintenance of order and cleanliness by the young students. The apartments are equipped with a bathroom with shower and air conditioning.
HOW MUCH DOES AN SSC COST
The cost per participant is €635 all inclusive. The price is €585 all inclusive for those who participated in the course the previous year and for those who join more than one week in the same year (the discount is applied to the second week and the following ones).
