Here the story of Adriatica is intertwined with that of Patrizio Roversi and Syusy Blady, a meeting that took place in the name of the most classic and providential "by chance". One spring day in 2000, the Roversi-Giusti family (Patrizio, Syusy and Zoe) passed through Fano and, looking for the entrance to the motorway, got lost in the industrial area. Behind a disused shed, in the middle of the countryside, overgrown with weeds and populated by pigeons and chickens, they see a boat pulled ashore. It's made of iron, all rusty, huge, majestic. "Mommy, Dad, this is Noah's boat!" exclaims Zoe. Patrizio measures it in steps: it is more than twenty meters long. It is unquestionably a sailing ship, even if it does not have masts or a daggerboard. It is an apparition that unleashes the imagination. Some time later, accompanied by their usual accomplices, they return to see her. And they fall in love with it. After some research that passes through the friends of the Atlante Cooperative (those of Goletta Verde) and the legendary Amedeo of a Bolognese bookshop dedicated to the sea, ours go back to the name Sciomachen. It just so happens that this handful of family-run but internationally renowned engineers reside in Bologna. Meetings and discussions begin on the original projects recovered in the cellar. The obstacle that inexorably stands between the enthusiasm of the Sailors by Chance and the wind in their sails is, as often happens, that of costs: putting such a boat back in the water is a matter that cannot be solved even with the savings of a lifetime. This is where William Giommi, the shipyard manager who built the hull twenty years earlier, comes into play: tracked down, he doesn't think twice about getting involved again! On the contrary, after some time William has become the president of the Consortium of the shipyards of the port and mobilizes all the united shipyards of Fano (including his own, the Bulgari) in the powerful restoration works. The boat was completed at a record pace in just 9 months, when it would have taken at least 2 years. It was 2001, the date of the launch on 29 September. And from his birthplace comes the name: Adriatica, like the sea he first sailed.
