This journey is a life experience that can only be told once lived. The boat involved is not a common boat but it is the first Italian boat that has crossed the borders of these lands and the skipper at the head of the expedition is the first and so far the only Italian to have completed the circumnavigation of the Arctic , first with Northwest Passage in 2012, starting from Tromsø in Norway, arriving in Alaska, then with the Northeast Passage in 2019 returning to Tromsø passing north of Siberia.
There are many reasons for choosing this experience, first of all the emotion that a trip of this type can give : crossing the ice, merging into white nature, in a silence of rare purity. Added to this are the unmistakable landscapes of northern Europe , the typical fauna of these areas and last but not least, the chance to spot the magical lights of the Northern Lights .
During the 7 stages of this journey, we will observe the great cetaceans of the North Sea , such as whales and dolphins, as well as seals and other Arctic animals , unfortunately some of which are in the process of disappearing. You will come into contact with the Nordic communities , with their customs and traditions, with their traditions and their cuisine.
Last consideration, no less important, this journey will lead to the awareness of how much this part of the world is in constant and very rapid evolution due to climate change : it is possible that in a few years today's landscape will no longer be observable.
The navigation and scenery between Trondheim and Bergen are very varied.
Often the route will initially pass outside the shelter of the islands and coastal rocks and it will be advisable to follow it in clear weather.
Southeast of Ålesund it will be possible to visit the deep, narrow and spectacular Geirangerfjord, which will certainly take a day or two. Once you leave the fjords around Ålesund and pass the Stattlandet peninsula, the most exposed breakwater, the route will turn more decisively south in the direction of the two deepest fjords: Nordfjord and Sognefjord , which we will perhaps be able to explore a little if we have some. the weather.
It will perhaps be worthwhile to venture into one of the small fjords further south where there is a tiny, almost incredible anchorage next to a smooth and sheer rock. The path to Bergen winds through very narrow fjords and with the passage of numerous bridges just higher than the mast of the boat, a passage that always seems critical, but which is overcome with a sigh of relief.
It will be a question of carefully evaluating the condition of the tidal currents which could slow down the travel times, even if they are spectacular in their crossing.
And finally Bergen, founded in 1070 where there is everything that can be of interest in an enviable urban and port scenario, if we can find a place along the quays of the center.

I just enjoyed 2 weeks sailing in Norway. The captain and first mate have to be the most experienced sailors you will ever meet so you feel totally confident. Circumnavigators, Northwest Passage, Northeast Passage, and very pleasant, intelligent people! And the food was outstanding. What more could you ask for an adventure holiday?
