This experience, in a nutshell

Adventure and beauty on this one-way cruise from the Gulf of Trieste to Split. We will sail every day on new routes and to destinations that belong to every sailor's dreams.

on the first evening we will be in Istria, perhaps moored at the village dam in Novigrad famous for its sunset.

on the second day we will go down all over Istria to Pula, we often meet dolphins off the coast of Rovinj, maybe in the evening we can go to the restaurant to have Dalmatian fried food and Istrian Malvasia. During the day of navigation around noon we always allow ourselves an aperitif, and then have lunch around 13.00, 13.30 if possible at anchor, otherwise at sea. On the third day we cross the notorious Kvarner, a historical place of winds and currents, to arrive, depending on the wind, near the Island of Lošinj. From here on the environment that was already special, becomes unique with the clear and blue sea in all its variants and the islands of yellow and gray stone that emerge like planets lashed by the wind. And down again to the south-east through Ilovik, Olib, Premuda, Skarda and finally the great Dugi Otok, the long island, which now introduces us to the Kornati, a popular destination for large and small ships from all times. if possible we will drop anchor and spend the night in one of the most beautiful maritime places in the Mediterranean. Delicate music can accompany us to taste a glass of well-deserved white wine and perhaps cook together an inevitable pasta followed by a Pellinkovatz.... early in the morning we leave through Kaprije and we return to the mainland, heading towards the port of Skradin, then at the end after crossing the archipelago of Split, we enter the bay behind the city of Split, in Kastela the final destination of our journey. Kastela which is located 10 minutes by bus from the international airport of Split and 20 minutes from Trogir magnificent Venetian city. Split is served by all kinds of connections, by sea with ferries to Ancona and Bari, by land with excellent bus services, to Venice or Trieste for example Flixbus.

Our itinerary

Each stage must necessarily take into account the weather and sea conditions. It happens - rarely even to have to stand still for a day, but the route is designed to have this margin of safety as well. We have four types of possible moorings: at the docks of the villages, often occupied, in the marinas served by water and electricity, at the buoys and at anchor, but often the choice is obligatory. In Istria, the ports of Umag and Novigrad are close and alternative, while the Veruda fjord in Pula is an almost obligatory stop, before crossing the Kvarner. it is often convenient to be in the Marina or at the buoys not too late to avoid that they are all occupied, for example arriving in Ilovik and then in the bay north of Dugi otok at Zajev Pantera. The Kornati Islands, being among other things a nature park, offer only the Marina Piskera, the most exclusive in Croatia, or if conditions allow it, you can stay at anchor, or at the buoys of Ravni Zacan. the marina of Skradin is very comfortable, as well as Kastela on arrival.

August cruise along Istria from the gulf of Trieste to Kvarner and back

08/18/2023

Federica G.

Gabriele é un vero appassionato di vela ed è uno skipper molto esperto. Attraverso i suoi insegnamenti ci ha trasmesso molte nozioni e tecniche di vela . Abbiamo fatto diverse tappe in Istria navigando prevalentemente a vela . É stata un’esperienza molto bella anche dal punto di vista della relazione, aspetto non comune di questi tempi . Grazie Gabriele e grazie Tango ! “Non basta avere la voce più melodiosa per intonare un tango. No. Bisogna anche sentirlo.

Our experience with Gabriele, the boat, the crew, the delivery and of course being able to experience the Barcolana was incredible and could not have been better. Gabriele proved to be a competent and knowledgeable captain as well as a fine gentleman. We feel as if we have found new friends in Gabriele and the other members of the crew and hope that we will be able to sail with them again in the future. The travel gods have been with us!
